Frequently asked questions
Find answers to common questions about SportsKeeper — how organizations are created, which roles exist, how a live draft runs, and how player data for minors is protected.
- What is SportsKeeper? — SportsKeeper is a real-time sports draft and league management platform designed for amateur sports leagues. It provides tools for taking player registrations, organizing drafts, building balanced teams, tracking player statistics, publishing schedules and running day-to-day league operations from one place.
- How do I create an organization? — Registering guides you through a three-step process: setting up your organization name and sport, selecting a subscription plan, and configuring your first season. After that a guided first-run flow walks you through building your league structure and creating your first team, and the full dashboard unlocks once that structure is ready.
- What roles are available? — The platform supports multiple roles within a league hierarchy. Administrators have full system access and organization management. Organizers handle league-level management and oversight. Convenors run division and subdivision management and coordinate drafts. Coaches manage their team, player assignments and draft participation. Players view their assignments, statistics and league information. Family and parent accounts monitor their child’s participation and results. Spectators get view-only access to public draft boards.
- How does the draft process work? — Convenors set up draft lists and configure the draft parameters — round count, time per pick, and which teams are participating. During a live draft, coaches take turns selecting players in real time, and the draft board updates instantly for every participant on every device. Trades can be proposed and approved mid-draft, and eligibility and balance are checked as picks land rather than afterwards.
- Can I try SportsKeeper before purchasing? — Yes. There is a free trial period so you can explore the platform, run the full setup flow and try a draft before committing to a paid plan. No payment details are required to start the trial, and you can change plan at any point afterwards.
- How do I add players to my league? — Players can be added by league administrators through the player management section, imported in bulk from a spreadsheet, or added by the players and families themselves using a public registration link you share with your league members. Parents can register their children through the parent portal, including payment, waivers and any custom questions your organization asks.
- Which sports are supported? — The platform runs on a multi-sport engine covering more than 30 sports, with sport-specific positions, statistics and scoring built in. Specialist positions such as goaltenders and pitchers are modelled as distinct player types rather than as a checkbox, so draft rules and roster balance treat them correctly.
- Is my data secure? — Yes. The platform uses industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication with optional two-factor authentication, and role-based access controls so each participant sees only what their role permits. Player data for minors carries additional protections under COPPA, including verifiable parental consent and data deletion on request.
- How do I contact support? — Use the contact page and we will reply by email — no account and no mail client needed. We aim to respond within one business day. Include your organization name and, where relevant, the season and the page you were on; it removes a round trip.
